The 20th Annual Interior Design Show

The Interior Design Show, returning to Toronto next week, is January's hottest ticket!

Since it first opened its doors in 1999, the annual fair has consistently showcased an awe-inspiring collection of new products and furniture, fresh ideas, and cutting edge design concepts. But there's definitely extra excitement in the air this time around, as IDS will be celebrating it's 20th anniversary as an international phenomenon!

So expect a little more glitz, a lot more glam, and some truly ambitious programming!

IDS Toronto takes over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre January 18th-21st, so be sure to buy tickets before they're gone!  As in year's past, every room is sure to be packed - with designers and enthusiasts alike - hoping to catch a whiff of the newest trends and avante-garde ideas!

Each year, IDS Toronto produces special features that speak to design trends and ideas that inspire and amaze visitors. Ceasarstone will be collaborating with New York-based group, Snarkitecture, for this year's Designer Program, entitled 'Altered States'; the installation will focus on what has become an icon of the modern home - the kitchen island! Another much anticipated exhibit by Design Workshop Architects, 'How Bright Is our Future', will consist of a a dark forest of blade-like fixtures where visitors will be asked to react to the most promising and terrifying changes that will form part of our future. An illuminated meter will display the collected data for each individual - as well as the collective - on a spectrum from fear to hope. Pretty neat, eh?! Other features of note include a return of designboom mart toronto (selling self-produced or limited edition pieces from 30 international designers), 'Ontario Wood' (discussing the function, beauty, versatility and performance of locally-made Ontario wood products), and, new this year, Interior Tours (allowing visitors to explore three of Toronto’s most compelling interiors with their designers as guides).

This year's star-studded line-up of speakers includes returning favourites as well as new visionaries, all speaking to the theme of "Future Forward" design thinking. Top billing goes to two first time conference speakers, the hip-hop architect Michael Ford and renowned textile designer Kathryn M. Ireland. To pay homage to the event’s 20th anniversary, Canadian designers from IDS’ 1999 debut, Karim Rashid and Brian Gluckstein, will join the lineup to share their design journeys.

The 2018 International Guests of Honour will be George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg of Canadian design powerhouse, Yabu Pushelberg. The design duo extraordinaire (and Officers of the Order of Canada!) have been in business together for 30 years, having originally met at Ryerson University. Their resume now boasts hundreds of designs and projects, including the interiors for the Four Seasons Toronto and New York Downtown, Canada Olympic House for the Rio 2016 games, EDITION London and Miami Beach, Lane Crawford, Las Alcobas Napa Valley, and Park Hyatt Bangkok.

Here's a sneak peak of what's to come:

A showcase of hot-topic design trends, innovative and influential design minds, and a platform to launch never-before-seen products, IDS Toronto 2018 is not to be missed! We'll see you there!

It's not just a fair – it’s a total design experience.
