Chelster Hall in Oakville, Ontario (a bedroom community of Toronto) is listed at a whopping $65-million, which makes it officialy the most expensive home for sale in Canada! It is $2-million dollars higher than the second most expensive property in Canada, which is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada's other coveted real estate market.
After over a decade of residing in this magnificent home, ex-CEO of Interbrew, Hugo Powell and his wife Tracy, are ready to begin a new chapter in their lives. The $65-million asking price is purportedly justified, as the homeowners carefully considered construction costs, land value, and the commitment to quality both inside and out.
Not only is the home stunning, the view is also spectacular! Located at 1150 Lakeshore Road E, the property sits along the shores of Lake Ontario.
The home is also about a half-hour drive, in the best of circumstances, from downtown Toronto.
The home fully embraces history as a concept. Not only is the home said to be inspired by the beautiful Jacobean architecture of Blickling Hall in Norfolk, but this impressive estate incorporates a two-storey library as well, which holds over 3,000 books. I feel the love and respect for history truly emanates through the halls of this home.
Chelster Hall also features awe-inspiring amenities such as an indoor and outdoor pool, bowling alley, home theatre, a 12-car underground parking garage, and a massive wine cellar, large enough to hold 7,000 bottles.
Even though Chelster Hall was built to operate as a home, the Powell’s see amazing potential in their property. They believe that it could be transformed into a commercial space, such as other landmarks throughout Ontario. The possibilities of what could become of this luxury waterfront property are truly endless.
