The Hartmont Candle Company, of the Hartmont family farm, embarked on candle-making years ago and have not looked back since. Why should they, when each of their finely crafted candles are a precise, delicate triumph. The family company originated in Manitoba and currently has two stores, one in Winnipeg and one in Vancouver.
One of their most popular candles is the Aurora candle that's set in a jar.

A unique aspect of the Aurora candle is the way they were made to complement any room: in fact, the candle jars range in sizes, which determine how far they can throw their scent!
Small jars are perfect for short burns in bathrooms, perhaps for their spa or floral collections, while indulging in a bubble bath. Medium jars can fill an area of 500 sq ft, which are great for living rooms; outdoor scents help bring nature indoors, or seasonal themed candles help to spread the cheer! In open-concept homes, the largest candles will have no trouble burning up to 90 hours and permeating 800 sq ft with their glorious fragrance.
Hartmont Candle Company has been able to take the basic ‘candle,’ and, quite literally, amplify it. When lit, their wooden wicks crackle with all the comfort of a wood-burning fire. From their complex scents to their cozy ambiance, these candles are truly a multi-sensory experience.

In-store, candle jars line the racks like spice tins, with as much variety. From salty sea-shore scents to the temptation of freshly-baked pumpkin apple strudel. Their Root Beer candles pop like a freshly opened bottle, and Smores all but sizzle over the open flame.
You don’t have to worry about being overpowered – I myself have a sensitive nose and avoid perfumed sections of stores whenever I can; but the scents of Hartmont candles are strong without being cloying, thick without overpowering.
The Crackling Firewood Aurora Candle from the Hartmont Candle Company
My sister’s favourite candle is the Crackling Firewood Aurora; in her fireplace-less home, the scent of a wood-burning fire from the lit candle, punctuated by the crackle of the glowing wooden wick, completes the illusion of a roaring fireside right in her living room – much more effective than a 'TV fireplace'!
Each candle is carefully conceived: through their particular combination of scents and soy wax, candles are hand-poured into glass jars with perfectly minimalist accents of colour, and centered with sturdy wooden wicks, so that no two candles are exactly the same. And, once burned out, the jars can be re-used or re-cycled. If you live nearby a store in Winnipeg or Vancouver, the company will take back the jars.
